New Life/Lives
Hi all, it’s been quite a while since I last updated this blog. A lot has happened in the last few months – Mid-June I got Laid Off (and the day after I dislocated my left hip at the home of one of the business owners’ home!), so I am currently trying to build my hobby business of dog training into a full-time career while also interviewing to find a “real” job and put my MBA degree to work. It isn’t the most opportune time to find a job, but I have good contacts, so I remain hopeful and positive about it.
Back in March I had taken a drug called Levaquin (an antibiotic) and I am one of the unlucky percentage that experienced the horrible side effect of spontaneous tendon rupture. In April, my pinky and ring fingers on my right hand stopped working. I was tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis (among other things) and we eventually ruled it all out – it was the Levaquin. And since my taking the drug, the FDA has insisted the drug have a “black box” warning on the label – so I have joined a Class Action Law Suit against the makers of the drug. Apparently all the drugs in this particular class (like Cipro) have spontaneous tendon rupture as a peculiar side effect. So I had to have hand surgery and I am still in physical therapy to regain as much use of my fingers as possible. So typing anything was out of the question for a few months. And I have to say the physical therapy is taking so much longer than any of the previous hip surgery PT took.
On a good note, both of my “girls” (my German Shepherd Dog, Kiri, and Finnish Spitz, Ginger) have been bred and Kiri gave me 3 beautiful babies that are now 5 weeks old. Ginger is due to have 5 pups on November 6. So for the last month or so I have been busy raising my puppies. They are just fantastic.
I am now looking for perfect homes for my puppies, so if you are interested, or know someone who is, please let me know! J The Shepherd pups are all show quality with excellent, sound structure and super temperaments. Both parents are European imports, the sire highly titled and the dam is my working Service Dog. The Finkie pups are out of a super combination breeding back on my first Finkie, Bell, so I expect super-sweet, biddable personalities and great structure. The lines I am using are the best in this country – I can’t wait to see how they all mature.
So life has gotten in the way of my usual blogging… I hope all is well with all of you – and I look forward to seeing where my life is heading. I’ll keep you updated!
